CONSTANTINE THE GREAT

Free public lecture by Constantine expert

Dame Averil Cameron, Professor of Late Antique and Byzantium Studies at Oxford University, is giving a lecture entitled ‘Constantine and Constantius’ at the Yorkshire Museum next Monday July 17 at 5pm.

Elizabeth Hartley, curator of the Constantine exhibition at the Yorkshire Museum, reports: “Averil Cameron is one of the top international scholars on Constantine the Great and has been a great supporter of the York Constantine exhibition and contributed substantially to the exhibition catalogue. We are extremely fortunate to be able to offer this lecture to the public free of charge.”

The lecture is part of an international four day conference, Constantine and the Late Roman World at the Yorkshire Museum, and organised by the Departments of History and History of Art at the University of York in association with the York Museums Trust.

The lecture is taking place at the Tempest Anderson Hall at the Yorkshire Museum. There is no pre-booking for seats, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
